The University of Santo Tomas Publishing House joins the 32nd Manila International Book Fair, with book-signing activities by the celebrated authors of some of its new titles. The event runs from Sept. 14 to 18 at the SMX Convention Center in the SM Mall of Asia.
To start off, Entertainment Editor of the Philippine Daily Inquirer Emmie Velarde, will sign books at the UST Publishing House’s booth on Thursday (Sept. 15) from 5 pm to 7 pm. Her new book Show Biz, Seriously is part of the USTPH’S “Personal Chronicles” series by practicing journalists.
On Friday (Sept. 16), 2 p.m., multi-awarded fictionist and fellow of the UP Institute of Creative Writing Charlson Ong will autograph copies of his latest work, Blue Angel, White Shadow, a detective novel, a rarity in the Philippine literary scene.
Connie Jan Maraan, professor of creative writing and literature at De La Salle University, will take her turn on Sept. 17, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Better Homes and Other Fictions is a collection of short stories and essays on writing and the teaching of writing.
On Saturday afternoon, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., pop icon and main man for the band Radioactive Sago Lourd de Veyra will be at the booth to sign copies of his bestsellers– Insectissimo (poetry) and Super Panalo Sounds! (novel).
Veteran journalist, essayist, poet Elizabeth Lolarga will be at the booth on September 18, Sunday, at 2 p.m. Her new book, Catholic and Emancipated is also part of the “Personal Chronicles” Series. Finally, poet Emman Velasco will sign copies of his Dalawang Pulgada at Tubig on Sunday at 4 – 5 p.m.
Many other titles are on display at the USTPH booth, which are part of the “400 Years, 400 Books.” The 400 titles will be presented to the public at the closing of the Quadricentennial celebrations of UST in January 2012.
